PD Warrior


PD Warrior was created in 2011 by two neurological physiotherapists in Australia to positively impact the lives of people loving with Parkinson’s. It is an exercise philosophy designed to help people slow their Parkinson’s down. PD Warrior brings together the latest evidence with the experience and success of training thousands of people worldwide. It is a proactive approach to exercise and helps empower you to have a better quality of life.
PD Warrior is a unique and different exercise philosophy designed to help you slow your Parkinson’s down by using a framework of 4 core principles;
1. Neuro-active exercise,
2. Education,
3. Long-term commitment to fighting the symptoms of Parkinson’s by changing behaviours
4. Community and Support.

Who is it for?

It is designed for those who have been recently diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson’s or who have mild symptoms. A reasonable level of fitness is also of benefit along with motivation to exercise. You don’t have to enjoy exercise to join but a desire to move better is required to get the most out of it.
It has been recently recognised that early exercise intervention is best. So don’t wait for symptoms to impact your quality of life but get started early, understand your Parkinson’s and take control in a positive way.

Initial Assessment

It is essential that everyone is fully assessed before commencing any PD Warrior program. This is to ensure that we know about your full medical history, any injuries or complications and any precautions to exercise. It also helps us to identify your main difficulties, define realistic goals with you and set you up with a tailor made exercise programme for home. You will get far more out of your program by working with an instructor that trying to do it on your own.  However, the introductory sessions will give you enough to get you started independently if you do not live locally to a PD Warrior site. If you do not live locally Online 10 Week Challenge to help support your home program.

Introductory/follow-up sessions

The introductory sessions include private sessions with a PD Warrior Instructor to get you started and should include a twelve week follow up. You will be taught specific exercises and techniques, given a tailored home exercise programme and PD Warrior workbook to help support your work outside of your sessions. These sessions are either in your own home or at site near you.

How many sessions will I need?

The minimum advised for effective intervention is an initial assessment and treatment session with 2 – 3 individual follow ups that can be spread out as needed. It is important that you know how to do the exercises properly in order to get the most out of the program and it is important to have a re-assessment at the end of the program. This helps to show you your progress objectively as well as to give you a baseline for future analysis.
Following the Introductory sessions, most people will then go on to do the PD Warrior Circuit Class.


Currently I  run 4 Parkinson’s classes a week, all are circuit based, intense and incorporate PD Warrior concepts. A new class is being added at Bisham Abbey Sports Center for those who at following the PD Warrior program. The main difference between the classes are level of intensity and the PD Warrior class is a 10 week program not just a weekly class. Note, if you are wishing to join a class I will advise you of the most appropriate class and venue for you.
